The Problem
A newly married couple had just completed renovations on their double-storey terrace house in Taman Kepong Baru, near the Metro Prima area. The house was a sub-sale unit they'd purchased for RM 580,000 — the previous owner had removed all the old aircond units during the handover, leaving behind only pipe holes in the walls and some outdated wiring. The couple needed a complete fresh aircond installation for all five rooms: master bedroom, two secondary bedrooms, a home office on the ground floor, and the living room.
Their budget was tight after the renovation, so they wanted good value without compromising on quality. They'd been quoted RM 8,500 by another company for five Daikin units, which was beyond their budget of RM 7,000 all-in.
Our Assessment
After surveying the house, we recommended the Panasonic CS-PU Series — a reliable inverter range that offers excellent cooling performance at a more accessible price point than premium Japanese brands. We sized each unit based on room dimensions, window exposure, and floor level:
- Master bedroom (180 sq ft): 1.5HP CS-PU12XKH — west-facing with large windows
- Bedroom 2 (120 sq ft): 1.0HP CS-PU9XKH
- Bedroom 3 (110 sq ft): 1.0HP CS-PU9XKH
- Home office (130 sq ft): 1.0HP CS-PU9XKH — ground floor, shaded by the porch
- Living room (280 sq ft): 2.0HP CS-PU18XKH — open plan with high ceiling
Work Timeline
Day 1: Electrical Preparation
Ran dedicated 20A electrical circuits for each aircond from the DB board. Installed individual isolator switches beside each indoor unit location. Upgraded the main breaker from 60A to 80A to handle the additional load safely.
Day 1: Piping Runs (Upstairs)
Installed copper piping for all three upstairs bedrooms. Used the existing pipe holes where possible and drilled new ones where the old holes didn't align with the new unit positions. All piping concealed in PVC trunking painted to match the wall colour.
Day 2: Piping Runs (Downstairs) & Outdoor Units
Ran piping for the living room and home office units. The living room required a 7-metre pipe run along the ceiling void to reach the nearest external wall. Installed all five outdoor condensers on the ground-level concrete pad at the side of the house with proper spacing for airflow.
Day 2: Indoor Unit Mounting
Mounted all five indoor units. Special attention was paid to the living room unit — positioned centrally on the long wall to maximise airflow coverage across the open-plan space. Used heavy-duty wall anchors on the upstairs units due to lightweight partition walls.
Day 3: Vacuum, Charge & Commissioning
Performed nitrogen pressure tests on all five systems (400 PSI, 30 min hold each). Vacuum pumped all systems to -29.9 inHg. Released factory-charged R32 refrigerant and commissioned each unit individually. Final testing with all five running simultaneously — total draw measured at 38A, well within the 80A main breaker capacity.
Day 3: Cleanup & Handover
Sealed all wall penetrations with putty and silicone. Cleaned up all work areas. Walked the homeowners through the remote control functions, filter cleaning procedure, and warranty registration. Provided a complete handover document with unit serial numbers and installation photos.

Lessons & Tips
If you're buying a sub-sale house in Kepong and the aircond has been removed, don't assume the existing pipe holes and wiring will work for your new units. Different brands and models have different pipe sizes and electrical requirements. Always get a site survey done first — it's free with Masters Aircond Service KL.
For budget-conscious homeowners, Panasonic's inverter range offers arguably the best value in the Malaysian market. You get genuine inverter technology, R32 refrigerant, and solid build quality at 15-20% less than equivalent Daikin models. The energy savings from inverter technology typically pay for themselves within 2-3 years compared to non-inverter units. We also provide aircond repair services should any issues arise after installation.
